The bite-sized version of Apple's uber-walkman is without doubt, the most eagerly anticipated gadget of the year. Unfortunately, the UK release date has just been put back until July to satiate our American cousins. But will it be worth the wait? The noisy little ankle-biter is deceptively small in the hand, with its buttons cunningly tucked away under the scroll wheel.
Apple has wisely not tinkered with the menu system, even though the screen is smaller, but this helps it to last a full eight hours, a bit better than the full-sized version. The mini will sound the same as its bigger brethren, and its 4GB of memory can stash around eighty albums at pretty decent quality. This seems like a lot, but when you consider that a 20GB model costs only a hundred notes more, yet comes with both a remote control and the docking cradle, the new widdler seems over-priced. That won't stop Apple selling shedloads though, especially in its 'mack daddy' gold incarnation.
