Men that don’t even play computer gamesplay Championship Manager all of the time. Men that don’t even like football play Championship Manager. It is the great bringer-together of men across the globe. It’s only a simple case of building your team up from the Germoline Antiseptic Wipes Sunday Division Eight to full Premiership glory, but is it ever a comprehensive, addictive and amazingly engaging journey. That said, with the original Championship Manager team defecting to create the rival series Football Manager 2005, there’s a slight feeling that all you’re getting here is an annual upgrade without any finesse or significant enhancements. And the 2005 season’s almost over, with Champ Man 5 only recently limping into the shops after months of delay. Not that Champ Man obsessives will mind, though – this is the same essential football-lovers masterpiece it always was.
