Epson has announced its continued support of the Celebrity Dad of the Year award in association with FQ magazine. They will continue to be the proud sponsor of the award for this year’s award to be announced 16th June 2005.
Last years Winners For the first time in the illustrious history of the Epson Dad of the Year competition there has been a tie. So rather than discount all hanging chads, both celebs have been awarded the prestigious title. The joint winners are top radio personality Jono Coleman and DIY hero Tommy Walsh.
Jono Coleman aka the Rotunda from Down Under won the nation’s support thanks to his excellent Heart FM breakfast radio show and his unbelievable performance on ITV’s 'Celebrity Fit Club' on which he lost four stone and gained £25,000 for his chosen charities.
Young Tommy Walsh won our hearts and minds with his sterling performances on BBC1’s garden makeover show ‘Ground Force’ that has now reached its 11th series and has viewing figures in excess of seven million. Jono has two children, Oscar, 10, and Emily, 7, and Tommy has three children, Charlotte, 16, Natalie, 13 and John Joe, 10.
Unbelievably, after weeks of intense speculation, Jono and Tommy received exactly the same number of votes and thereby managed to stave off the challenge of a whole host of wannabe dad of the years. The likes of Gordon Ramsey, Tony Blair, Sir Bob Geldof, Jamie Oliver, Eamonn Holmes and Gordon Brown could only watch and weep as these two super dads walked away with the title.
