The Nintendo Dual Screen is pitched as a pure games machine. None
of this multimedia nonsense for Nintendo. Games come on cartridge,
with the machine able to play old Game Boy Advance games too.
The dual-screen gimmick is odd, with DS developers seeming a little
confused as to what Screen Two is actually meant for. Some use the
second, touch-sensitive display as one big controller, others use it
simply as an additional display for stats, alternate viewpoints and data.
Built-in network support is included for multiplayer gaming and, rumour
has it, downloadable demos of new games, plus DS’s included PictoChat
messaging software should see it win fans with those who enjoy the odd
bit of cybersex with strangers to help pass long train journeys.
