This started out as another sequel in the stunning Deus Ex series, before development went too far down the ‘fun’ route for it to be considered part of the ultra-serious Deus Ex universe and a whole new spin-off was born. And boy, is it worth it – Project: Snowblind is fast, furious and the most creative shooter we’ve seen for years. Set in the year 2065, the game gives you a whole arsenal of stunning futuristic weaponry to play with, from mini-robot spiders that follow you around and attack enemies, to fold-out plasma riot shields for protection and electro-magnetic lightning guns to disable security cams and laser defences.
Robotic enemies can be hacked and controlled, there are vehicles to steal and drive, and it’s all done in a sensational sci-fi style reminiscent of Starship Troopers. All this future fighting unfolds at a stunning pace, too, with never a dull moment or duff level – it’s a stunner. 5 out of 5!
