If you’d like to take your family on a breathtaking day out in London, perhaps you should consider showing them the city from a different point of view. There are some incredible bird’s-eye views of the capital that are available to the public.

Here are a few of the best places to view London from on high.

The Shard

Found in Southwark, The Shard provides the highest viewing platform in the whole city. As well as its extraordinary 360 degress views, The Shard also contains numerous restaurants and bars.

The London Eye

This famous Ferris wheel is located by the Thames in Westminster. Over 3.75 million tourists a year take the ride to see awe-inspiring views of the skyline.

Sky Garden

At the top of 20 Fenchurch Street, nicknamed the Walkie Talkie because of its unusual shape, there’s a completely free viewing platform. Situated in Canary Wharf, it also contains London’s highest public garden.

Emirates Line

The Emirates Line is not only a great cheap alternative, but your children will love taking a cable car over the Thames. Going back and forth between Royal Victoria and Greenwich, it costs just the cost of an Oyster card fare.

ArcelorMittal Orbit

This unusual structure was built in Stratford for the 2012 Olympics. As well as its fabulous views at the top, you can ride the world’s longest tunnel slide to take you back down!

Up at the O2

There’s an astonishing view of the city on top of the O2 arena in Greenwich. Your kids will feel like mountaineers as they walk across walkway suspended above the arena attached to a harness.
