Typical of the British summer to be fraught with drizzle filled days. We can hope the sun will show its face again but let’s be honest, English summer isn’t exactly the most predictable. There’s bound to be a couple of wet and rainy days. But what better excuse to have a movie marathon with some the latest kids and family films?

There’s nothing easier to do with the kids than make some popcorn, grab a blanket and curl up on the sofa with a great flick. If you’re looking to make it more fun, why not try one of Movie weekender’s challenges with the kids?

Power Rangers

Saban’s Power Rangers follows five ordinary high school kids who must become something extraordinary when they learn that their small town of Angel Grove – and the world is on the verge of being obliterated by an alien threat. Beauty and the Beast

The story and characters audiences know and love come to spectacular life in the live-action adaptation of Disney’s animated classic “Beauty and the Beast,” a stunning, film celebrating one of the most beloved tales ever told. The film focuses on Belle (Emma Watson), a bright, beautiful and independent young woman who is taken prisoner by a Beast (Dan Stevens) in his castle. Despite her fears, she befriends the castle’s enchanted staff and learns to look beyond the Beast’s hideous exterior and realize the kind heart of the true Prince within.

LEGO Batman 

In the irreverent spirit of fun that made The LEGO Movie a worldwide phenomenon, the self-described leading man of that ensemble, LEGO Batman, stars in his own big-screen adventure. But there are big changes brewing in Gotham, and if he wants to save the city from The Joker’s hostile takeover, Batman may have to drop the lone vigilante thing, try to work with others and maybe, just maybe, learn to lighten up.

Sing is a musical comedy about finding the shining star that lives inside all of us and stars a phenomenal cast including Matthew McConaughey, Reese Witherspoon, Scarlett Johansson and Seth MacFarlane. Set in a world like ours but entirely inhabited by animals, the story follows a koala named Buster Moon who has one final chance to restore his theatre to its former glory by producing the world’s greatest singing competition.

Challenge: Choreograph a dance routine to one of the songs in the film
