Whether it’s because you’re embarrassed about your symptoms or you simply don’t have time to visit the doctor, you might have been overlooking a problem with your health.

The trouble is, not taking action when it comes to certain medical issues can put your long-term wellbeing at serious risk. With this in mind, here are three health problems that no man should ignore.

1. Erectile dysfunction

Erectile dysfunction (ED) is a common problem. In fact, as many as half of men over 40 have experienced it at some time in their lives. However, just because it’s widespread doesn’t mean you should disregard it. There are a variety of possible causes of ED, including potentially serious underlying medical problems such as high cholesterol, diabetes and high blood pressure. So, if you’re experiencing ED and you’re not sure why, it’s important to speak to a doctor. They should be able to determine the trigger of your ED and recommend a suitable treatment based on this.

If they identify an underlying health problem, they will suggest ways to tackle it. There are also targeted ED treatments available. Viagra is the best known of these, but there are alternatives too. For example, you can get Sildenafil from online doctor LloydsPharmacy and other reputable providers. This contains the same active ingredient as Viagra and is cheaper to buy.

2. Difficulty urinating

Do you sometimes find it difficult to pee? If so, it could be time to book an appointment with your GP. This problem can occur when the prostate is enlarged and starts to press on the tube that urine flows down from the bladder. In some cases, this enlargement is a result of prostate disease, and this can include cancer. You shouldn’t panic if you’re struggling to urinate. This doesn’t necessarily mean you have a serious health problem – but it is important to get checked out as soon as possible. If you do have cancer, the earlier you catch it the better your prognosis is likely to be.

Other symptoms of prostate cancer include needing to urinate a lot during night and a burning sensation or pain when you pee.

3. Feeling unhappy

Depression rates are higher among women than men, but men are more likely to take their own lives. One possible reason for this is that men tend to be more reluctant to speak about their mental health problems. If you’re feeling low, try not to fall into this trap. Depression is a real illness and it can have a huge impact on your family and work life. So, if you’ve felt persistently down for weeks or longer, now’s the time to reach out for support. Treatments usually involve a combination of talking therapies, self-help techniques and sometimes medicines.

The good news is, with the right help, the majority of people with depression are able to make a full recovery.
