Good skin is for all year round, not just the summer months, so follow these tips for a healthier appearance.

Just because it’s winter and you’re not out in your shorts and sunnies doesn’t mean that you should forget about looking after your skin. With that in mind, we’ve rounded six skincare tips for you.

Stay hydrated

Drinking enough water is essential for healthy skin. There are many foods that can help increase your water intake aside from guzzling water. Water is key to help repair the skin cells in your face and all over your body. Make it easier for them to do their job by drinking enough water.

Prep before shaving

Razor bumps are a common annoyance for men with course or curly facial hair. An easy remedy for this is to exfoliate before shaving. By using an exfoliating wash before shaving, you are prepping the skin and creating a soft layer to make the process of shaving smoother.

Moisturise

One of the most popular skincare tips is moisturising. If you find that male moisturisers are not cutting it, don’t be afraid of using a moisturiser targeted at women. Many times they will be lighter and can be helpful if you are more prone to oily skin.

Eat for your skin

What you eat is just as important as what you put on your skin. Eating a balanced diet filled with fruits and vegetables will make a major difference in the appearance of not just your facial skin, but skin all over your body. Foods such as pineapples, almonds and berries are just a few foods that can help improve your skin.

Don’t pop the pimples

As tempting as it may be do your best not to pop the pimples and spots. Your skin will likely scar and the constant touching will leave oils and bacteria on your face. This can often cause acne spots to creep up on your face.

Sunscreen, sunscreen, sunscreen

And if you do manage to catch a little sun this winter (probably because you’re on holiday) then remember that sunscreen isn’t just for kids. It’s as important for adults as it is for children. Apply sunscreen every day you’re in the sun, even on days it isn’t so bright outside. You can also opt for a sunscreen that doubles as a protection against pollution, especially if you’re in a busy city.
