Great Ormond Street Hospital Children’s Charity is counting down to Christmas with a star-studded online Advent calendar.

The calendar launched on December 1st with a special festive message to the hospital’s patients from charity patrons Tess Daly and Vernon Kay. A host of the UK’s favourite celebrities, including stars from Strictly Come Dancing, The X Factor and Downton Abbey, have also recorded video messages, sending their season’s greetings to families at Great Ormond Street Hospital.

Each day, the charity will post a cryptic clue on Twitter and Facebook before opening the Advent calendar to reveal the identity of the star behind the door. The top secret list of the hospital’s famous friends also includes a Spice Girl, a Queen of the Jungle, a football legend and an inhabitant of Middle Earth.

The charity is also asking people across the UK to send their own Christmas message to children at Great Ormond Street Hospital as part of its Great Big Christmas Stocking Appeal, which invites supporters to write messages on stockings which are displayed in the hospital for patients, staff, and families to read.

To follow the Advent calendar and test your celebrity knowledge against the daily clues, check out @GreatOrmondSt on Twitter, facebook.com/greatormondst or gosh.org/calendar and to find out more about the Great Big Christmas Stocking Appeal and send your message, go to gosh.org/christmasmessage.
