A lighter and simplified version of the Silver Cross Pop stroller, make way for the Zest.

First Impressions

If you’re looking for a travel stroller with bells-on and luxury as far as the eye can see, the Zest may not be for you. This buggy from Silver Cross is about function and simplicity, as well as offering great value.

A lighter and simplified version of the brand’s Pop stroller, the Zest – available in three jazzy colour choices – weighs in at only 5.8kg and features a full lie-flat position for recline, making it suitable from birth to 25kg.

Features

The recline function is a real standout here, unlike the many other complicated contraptions you can come across, it’s easily managed with just a small paddle device.

Comfort for your child is also a high priority. The seat unit is roomy and a high backrest combined with footrest means it can adjust as your little one grows like a weed. The five-point harness is also adjustable and easy to fasten, while a particularly handy touch is the sun visor on the extendable hood, with its protective UPF50+ lining. Plus, if you like to keep an eye on your youngster without disturbing them, there’s a clever mesh panel to look through.

The Zest’s aluminium frame makes it both ultra-compact and a doddle to push. Despite the lightness, it still offers a surprisingly sturdy ride. With a spongy handlebar at a good height for even taller parents and responsive lever brakes, it’s easy to steer and capable when tackling kerbs.

The travel stroller essentials are also in place. The buggy uses a straightforward umbrella fold to become nice and compressed, before you simply put the wheels on and lock in place. In addition to the carry strap, there is also a deceptively large basket, which you can use as a storage space for all the necessities the average family trip requires.

FQ Verdict

Coming with a well-fitting rain cover, the best description for the Zest is ‘simply stylish’. The design details may not get your heart fluttering in excitement, the materials don’t feel particularly luxurious and you won’t find a barrage of cup-holders, but this buggy makes travelling with your child a breeze. You can’t put a price on that.
