Thule Motion XT Sport roof box review

Thule’s range of cargo roof boxes are some of the best in the business. The Thule Motion XT Sport is designed for sporty parents in particular who want to head off to the slopes.

First impressions

The design is smooth and sleek. If vehicles could speak, they’d no doubt be happy with how it looks sitting on their roof. Also, the PowerClick quick-mount system makes it really easy to fix on the roof.

Features

With a load capacity of 75kg, you can fit in up to five skis or four snowboards. For a couple wanting to get away for ski holiday, this is plenty of space. Even for a family of four, the space is good. (Of course, you don’t have to use it just to put skiing equipment in.)

When properly tightened on the roof, the integrated torque indicator makes an obvious clicking sound. And the one-handed operation makes it easy to securely attach the box to the roof rack. The DualSide opening provides easy access to all areas of the box, from either side of the vehicle.

The grip-friendly outer lift handle and optimised lid-lifters mean the lid opens and closes without any fuss. Not only that, the SlideLock system automatically locks the lid in place as soon as the box has been closed. While the aerodynamic shape means it’s a quiet ride when driving. In addition, the forward position on the vehicle roof gives you have full access to the trunk with minimal risk of contact with the cargo box.

ThuleFQ verdict on Thule Motion XT Sport

A cool-looking and spacious roof-mounted cargo box for dads and mums who like to go on holiday with the car. It’s easy to mount and just as easy to open and close. This cargo box is great value for money. Life on the road with Thule is good.
