Here’s our top picks of the best kids’ shows at the Edinburgh Fringe this year

The Edinburgh Fringe Festival brings thousands of shows to the city from all over the world. While most renowned for stand up, they festival also hosts many fantastic shows especially for children. Here’s a section of shows your children will adore.

The Showstoppers’ Kids Show

Showstopper! has been playing sell out runs at the Fringe for over ten years and even had a recent run in the West End. The troupe who improvise an entire musical based on the suggestions of the audience also have a fantastic show for kids.

Pleasance Courtyard, 1-19th August, 11am.

Duckie

Fabulous cabaret performer Le Gateau Chocolat stars in their first ever kids show. It’s a glitzy reimagining of The Ugly Duckling set in an animal circus, preaching a message of tolerance and self-acceptance.

Summerhall, 1st, 3-12th August, 2:30pm.

Dick and Dom: Dick v Dom

Popular kids TV show presenters and stars of Dick & Dom in da Bungalow stop by Edinburgh on their UK tour. The excitable duo split the audience in half in an interactive show full of games and hijinks.

Underbelly, Bristo Square, 1-12th August, 1:00pm.

The Gruffalo, the Witch and the Warthog with Julia Donaldson

Not only does this show feature a delightful performance of The Gruffalo, it has the preilvvege of being told by the original author herself, Julia Donaldson. The show also features some of her marvellous stories such as Room on the Broom and The Magic Paintbrush.

David Baddiel’s AniMalcolm

This delightful comedy musical brings David Baddiel’s popular children’s book to life. It tells the story of Malcolm, a boy who hates animals who finds himself going to a farm on a school trip.
