Although attitudes are rapidly changing, Dads are still often forgotten about when manufacturers set about designing baby products and one area where this rings true is changing bags. Do you, as a dad, want to be carrying round a lipstick red tote? Probably not. Not to worry, we’ve picked out these practical changing bags that will definitely suit the modern man…

OiOi Waxed Canvas Satchel ‘Diaper’ Bag

No Dad will have a problem carrying this superior quality bag around. It comes in chocolate (my personal favourite) and black waxed-canvas, with a pinstriped inside lining. Its look does not outweigh its practicality however, as it has insulated space for food and bottles, as well as a handy number of pockets for car-keys. The comfortable strap allows for easy carrying and the roomy interior allows for all manner of items for a baby or toddler. A great choice if you’re looking for something stylish but practical.

Diaper Dude ‘Diaper’ Bag

This new bag was created to be hip, but this doesn’t mean its forgotten comfort and ease! It comes in a huge range of 10 colours including camouflage and blue. Made of durable polyester, it can be easily spot-cleaned and is full of useful things, like a key ring and mobile phone case. Though it isn’t hugely spacious, it is well compartmentalised for all the things you and your baby will need throughout the day such as a special pouch for nappies and an elasticated bottle holder. A brilliant bag for those who want a lightweight, durable bag that still looks modern.

Mia Tui Ascot

Charlotte, the creator of this bag, made the beautiful Ascot after being asked at a Babyexpo to create a new bag for dads. It is a perfect changing bag with lots of pockets and zips, but also extra clear bags inside and a bright lining, meaning rifling through it a thing of the past, everything is clearly laid out in front of you. There’s room for bottles and even an ipad/tablet pocket for techy dads who want something to amuse themselves and their kids with on the train. It’s available in four colours: brown, steel blue, black and sand.

Little Lifestyles Changing Bag (leather graphite)

This is a smart and versatile bag that can change from a baby-changing bag into a nice leather computer case. Little Lifestyles’ highlight is that it contains a padded changing mat that can double as a computer case. It falls into a cheaper price range while still being lightweight and easily transportable – a great bag for holiday outings. The large interior fits all you and your baby need inside it and with an adjustable shoulder strap it’s really easy to carry. An adaptable bag which still appeals to the smarter gent.

Skip Hop Via Messenger Changing Bag

Adding a splash of colour, Skip Hop have given us the Via Messenger Changing bag in a choice of 4 colours: black, platinum, red and a vibrant green which really makes an impact! A nice choice for a dad who’s tired of all the dark and neutral colours on offer, it comes with a cushioned changing pad and the pockets even have a lining that reduces odour-producing bacteria. Four pockets can be found inside and outside for bottles/beakers and, in total, it has 18 pockets to fill with food, nappies and more! The Via Messenger comes with a unique fastening system that is simple but secure, clipping on to your pushchair. It looks amazing too, while on you, or your buggy.

Bababing! Daytripper

This dashing bag was given the Prima Baby & Pregnancy Gold Award 2014. It can be easily popped onto a buggy and includes a large easy clean pocket, an insulated bottle holder, dummy hangers and much more – not forgetting your own ‘dad’s space’ pocket for all the things you need. It comes in city black and slate grey. It’s sold as the ‘definitive paternity bag’ and you can see why, with space, on-trend looks and practicality, it is a fantastic bag for dads who love being out and about.

So there you have it, brands are finally taking notice of the modern Dad, whether it’s giving us a handy place to carry all of our tech or just tweaking the design so we don’t lose our keys while fumbling for nappies. There’s no doubt about it, all of these changing bags offer the practicality needed without sacrificing an inch when it comes to style.
