Summer is the perfect time for camping, so get your teeth stuck into these perfect fireside desserts.

With summer in full swing, many families are camping in some of the UK’s most popular camp sites. Pitching tents, swimming, maybe even fishing are fun –but the real treat for you and the kids is tasty campfire desserts.

Campfire cones

Just like ice cream cones, campfire cones are a real treat. Use any type of waffle ice-cream cone and simply fill them up with your favourite sweets. Particularly delicious toppings include marshmallows, chocolate chips or Reese’s peanut butter cups. Try adding in some fruit in, like raspberries or strawberries, as well for a health kick. Once you’ve put all your treats in the cone, wrap it up in aluminium foil and cook over the fire for three to five minutes.

Banana boats

Popular fillings are milk chocolate, graham cracker, strawberries and mini-marshmallows. When you’re ready wrap your banana up in aluminium foil and cook over the fire for three to five minutes.
