A recent study by Citroën has unveiled that half of parents in the UK are worried their children aren’t getting enough exercise, with over a third citing time constraints as a barrier to their own fitness routines, a figure that rises to 45% in London.

Citroën conducted a survey of 2,000 UK drivers to explore their exercising habits and found that one in five parents struggle to find opportunities to work out with their children, despite an overwhelming 91% encouraging their offspring to be active.

In response to these concerns, Citroën has launched the “Charge Up In 30 Guide,” available for download on its website. The guide aims to help parents make the most of their spare time, offering quick, effective workouts that take less than 30 minutes – the same amount of time it takes to charge the new ë-C3 electric vehicle.

In partnership with England Athletics, Citroën collaborated with British 5km Road Running Champion and Olympic 800m finalist Alex Bell, along with her coach Andrew Henderson, Head Coach of the Leeds England Athletics Hub, to develop the guide.

Bell and Henderson have utilised their expertise to create workouts suitable for all ages and abilities. Their experience, from training for the Tokyo Olympics in 2021 to coaching grassroots talent, allows them to curate exercises that integrate seamlessly into everyday family life. The guide includes exercises that incorporate the car, such as tricep dips using the boot and press-ups on the bonnet, ensuring a full-body workout.

The research also highlighted that over a fifth of individuals aged 55 to 64 do not engage in any exercise at all, with only 22% able to run for between one and five minutes. Nevertheless, frequent exercise is linked to numerous health benefits, with nearly half of participants reporting improved mental health as a motivating factor for exercising more often. Notably, 67% of parents exercise with their children, which increases to 79% among parents aged 25 to 34.

This new research contributes to Citroën’s ongoing collaboration with England Athletics, the governing body for grassroots running and athletics in England, as well as its official charity partner, the Personal Best Foundation. Together, they aim to foster greater physical activity among children and young people across the country.

As mentioned, the “Charge Up In 30 Guide” is designed to be completed in the average time it takes to recharge the ë-C3 – approximately 26 minutes from 20% to 80% using a 100kWh rapid charger. The new ë-C3 features a 44kWh battery that offers a range of up to 199 miles (WLTP combined cycle), while the ë-C3 Aircross is available with an 188-mile standard range or an extended range of up to 249 miles (WLTP) on a single charge.

Both the new ë-C3 and ë-C3 Aircross incorporate Citroën’s Advanced Comfort technology, including Advanced Comfort suspension and seats, to provide maximum comfort for all occupants.

Citroën is at the forefront of making electric mobility accessible, offering the most electric vehicles priced under £35,000 of any manufacturer. Models such as the Ami 100% ëlectric, new ë-C3, new ë-C3 Aircross, new ë-C4, new ë-C4 X, ë-Berlingo, and new ë-C5 Aircross are all available for under £35,000, and thanks to the Electric Car Grant, Citroën now provides an electric version of every passenger vehicle in its range at this price point.
