Bridgestone, a leader in premium tyres, has partnered with Volkswagen to develop bespoke Potenza Race semi-slick tyres for the Golf GTI EDITION 50, celebrating the model’s 50th anniversary.
This iteration of the Golf GTI is the fastest and most powerful yet, with tyres engineered to enhance its performance.
Produced in Europe, the premium Potenza Race fitment features a high-grip compound and an optimised cavity profile for exceptional dry performance. Its tread design ensures reliable handling in wet conditions, while a lightweight carcass reduces rolling resistance.
Setting Records at Nürburgring
Unveiled at the Nürburgring 24-hour race, the Golf GTI EDITION 50 has set the fastest-ever Nürburgring lap time for a Volkswagen production model, completing the 20.82-kilometre Nordschleife in just seven minutes and 46.13 seconds. Equipped exclusively with the Bridgestone Potenza Race fitment, it showcased ultra-high grip and precision control needed for this record-breaking achievement.

Bridgestone is the exclusive tyre supplier for the Golf GTI EDITION 50’s optional performance package, featuring 19-inch Potenza Race tyres (235/35 R19 91Y) with special Volkswagen sidewall markings.
