Suzuki has marked a significant milestone as the company celebrates 55 years of its pioneering Allgrip 4×4 technology.

To commemorate this achievement, Suzuki hosted an exclusive event for journalists, allowing us to test drive its impressive range of vehicles equipped with the innovative Allgrip system in and around Cardiff, Wales.

The Allgrip system was designed to provide superior traction, stability, and control in a variety of driving conditions. Over the decades, it has evolved into a sophisticated 4×4 technology, catering to both urban and rugged terrains. The system has been a fundamental component of Suzuki’s commitment to producing versatile vehicles that deliver exceptional performance.

The event in Cardiff offered journalists the opportunity to experience the latest models featuring Allgrip technology first-hand. We took to the scenic roads of South Wales, navigating a mix of urban environments and picturesque countryside. The testing route included challenging terrains – particularly at the ‘Monster Mountain’ off road facility near Merthyr Tydfil, allowing us to fully appreciate the capabilities of Allgrip.

“We are incredibly proud of the Allgrip 4×4 technology and its evolution over the past 55 years,” said a spokesperson from Suzuki during the event. “This milestone not only showcases our dedication to innovation but also underlines our commitment to providing reliable and safe vehicles, no matter the driving conditions.”

The Allgrip system allows you to switch between different modes, optimising performance based on terrain, whether on snowy roads, muddy tracks, or rocky pathways. We were particularly impressed with how seamlessly the system transitioned between various conditions, enhancing both confidence and comfort behind the wheel.

During the event, Suzuki showcased several models, all of which have long been favourites among drivers seeking adventure without compromising on style and convenience.

As Suzuki looks forward, the company intends to build on the success of Allgrip by integrating new technologies that enhance performance and sustainability. With a shift towards electrification in the automotive industry, Suzuki is exploring ways to further incorporate hybrid and electric powertrains into its 4×4 offerings while remaining true to the Allgrip heritage.

The 55th anniversary of the Suzuki Allgrip system is not simply a celebration of its past achievements but also a chance to anticipate the exciting future of off-road driving and technological advancements. As drivers continue to seek adventure and exploration, Suzuki’s Allgrip technology is well-positioned to help lead the way.
