British diving medallist and Toyota ambassador Andrea Spendolini-Sirieix is venturing into the world of driving, embarking on a new adventure just two months into her lessons.
Practising with her mother, Alessandra Spendolini, Andrea is facing the challenges of learning to drive with the same determination she shows in diving.
In a recent film titled “Andrea Learns to Drive,” shared on Toyota’s social media, the pair offers valuable insights on driving. Andrea likens the nerves of getting behind the wheel to those she feels before a dive. “Driving, like diving, is about practice,” she explains. “Understanding the road rules and maintaining focus are crucial skills everyone should have.”
Alessandra plays a pivotal role in Andrea’s journey, providing encouragement and guidance. “It’s rewarding to help a learner driver grow,” she says, reflecting on her initial doubts about Andrea’s interest in driving. Now, she fully trusts her daughter’s abilities and supports her through the bumps of the learning process.
Both mother and daughter stress the importance of patience and the acceptance of mistakes while driving. “Learning isn’t always smooth, but staying calm is key. Just breathe, reset, check the road, and enjoy the drive!” Alessandra advises.
