An excellent new mono to duo stroller with an abundance of shopping storage and bags of practicality.
Shopping and family. Family and shopping. That sounds like a good way to spend life for many a parent. It feels like Cybex has clearly been listening, then, with the release of the Gazelle S this month.
The big and sturdy stroller comes in a black or taupe frame, with a few different fabric colour options, and is part of their Gold collection.
It has an abundance of shopping capacity thanks to a detachable shopping basket (that holds 10kg) on top of the integrated shopping basket at the bottom (holding a further 13kg).
The stroller’s other USP is its ability to convert from a single to a double stroller. The extra seating can be either another seat unit, a car seat or the Gazelle cot.
In fact there are over a whopping 20 configurations available and a handy ‘configurations’ label stitched into the shopping basket for guidance.
As usual with Cybex, assembling the stroller out of the box is child’s play. There’s something so satisfying about clicking the chunky wheels into the sockets.
Then, all you need to do is flip open the seat and click the frame into place and you’re ready to go. The comfy, reversible seat it comes with has a secure five-point harness and a UPF 50+ canopy.
The great thing is that there’s a very simple sliding mechanism for clipping on the extra seating. For adding a cot or additional seat, there are no extra adaptors needed.
For adding on a car seat, such as the Cybex Cloud Z i-Size, it’s just a case of clipping in a pair of Gazelle S car seat adaptors. Whichever you choose, it’s an easy process.
And if you have two of the standard seats at the same time, you can still fold the stroller down without a problem.
Comparisons can be made with the Cybex Priam in terms of its size – although we’d say the Gazelle S is slightly wider at the wheels due to its lovely, extra big shopping basket.
Out on the city streets, the handling is flawless. For example, take dashing in the early-morning drizzle late for nursery with baby in the stroller in one hand and three-year-old daughter in the other.
Yet even turning corners and going over bumpy pavements in this scenario was no bother and no strain on the wrist – the front and back suspensions do their jobs to perfection.
It’s suitable from birth up to 22kg (around four years) and whether you have twins or children just a few years apart, the practicality of Gazelle S makes it an obvious choice for parents.
Though having said that, it works just as well if you only have one child, whether you love shopping or not.
Cybex Gazelle S is available nationwide in independent retailers, John Lewis, Mamas & Papas, Boots and Very from October 2020. RRP from £549.95.
