New KitchenAid Ice Cream Maker Attachment

Written by Tim Barnes-Clay

This new ice cream maker attachment turns KitchenAid‘s 6.9L bowl-lift mixer into a treat maker.

From the churn of a creamy vanilla ice cream topped with hot fudge, to the flavours and textures of gelato, there are endless ingredient and flavour combinations to explore.

With an updated churning dasher inside the bowl – for scraping down the sides and thorough mixing – the 1.9L bowl is designed to stay colder for longer – and it’s stylish enough to take straight from the mixer to the table!

Powered by the iconic KitchenAid stand mixer, with redesigned assembly and new handles, the ice cream maker attachment can churn thick and creamy ice cream at home in less than 30 minutes.

Easy step by step guide:

  • Pop the bowl in the freezer for 16 hours
  • Prepare your ingredients in readiness (up to 1.4L)
  • Put the freeze bowl on the stand mixer
  • Attach the drive assembly and the dasher to the bowl
  • Add the ice cream mixture
  • Mix for 30 minutes on speed 1
  • Serve immediately or freeze in an airtight container for later.

How creamy do you like yours?

Most homemade ice cream recipes call for a combination of cream, milk, eggs, and sugar. The type of cream you choose affects how rich in flavour and creamy in texture the result will be. Pick a cream with a higher percentage of fat if you prefer richer, creamy consistencies.

Prefer it light? You can use any combination in your ice cream maker, as long as the liquid measurement stays the same. So switch out cream for more milk if that suits you. Even skimmed milk works, but there will be a noticeable difference in texture.

Cleaning

Once the bowl has reached room temperature, simply wash by hand with warm, soapy water, dry and pop back into the freezer for next time.
