Silver Cross Surf 2

Surf 2
Written by Sam Skelding

The name Silver Cross instantly conjures up the image of a luxurious and reliable pushchair and the Surf 2 is no exception.

First Impressions

For starters, there are some astoundingly bright colours on offer, from a chilli red to sky blue, or if you’d rather go down a more conventional route, a sedate sand and sleek black have you covered. The extendable handle makes it easy to switch to the right height for taller dads and then back again for your partner, while steering and suspension get definite ticks for what is an incredibly smooth ride.

The Surf 2 comes with plenty of accessories, including footmuff, seat liner and even a 3-wheel adaptor to give you a jogging wheel, a real bonus for those dads who are looking to keep fit! There is also a buggy board, so it’s easy to cater for your baby’s older siblings.

Features

The buggy board is far from the only practicality. The carrycot can be used overnight, so you could technically avoid buying a separate Moses basket or crib. Even if you do choose to use a separate one, the carrycot – which is spacious and features a supportive but soft mattress – can still play its part on overnight visits or holidays.

The pushchair seat can be either parent-facing or world-facing and is easy to change, so you can simply switch it depending on the situation. The design has the same rounded shape as the carrycot, creating a gentle yet sleek feel, and can be used from the age of 6 months right up to toddlerhood. It also offers a three position recline, perfect for adjusting to your little one’s needs.

A nice aspect of the Surf 2 is that it can combine with the Simplicity car seat to form a travel system – something vital to modern parents.

The travel system is remarkably lightweight and compact compared to others on the market and car seat itself has excellent features; including a newborn wedge to optimise comfort for even the youngest user and a baby head support, which so many car seats on the market lack! Style-wise, it comes in a range of fabrics so you can match it to your pushchair.

FQ Verdict

The Surf 2 only reinforces Silver Cross’ high-end reputation and this is a pram system at the very top of its game.
