Allow us to present the brand-new MGS6 EV, equipped with a 77kWh battery and available in both rear-wheel and all-wheel drive configurations.
This MG makes a mark in the compact crossover SUV (C-SUV) sector, not necessarily for its design, but due to its generous interior space and thoughtfully crafted cabin. With an impressive five-star Euro NCAP rating, the MGS6 EV certainly boasts a considerable edge in terms of safety.
Following the recent launch of the MG IM6 SUV, the MGS6 EV signifies a significant milestone for the now Chinese-owned marque. But how does it fare on the road? Let’s explore the specifics.
Exterior
The MGS6 EV is MG’s eighth all-electric vehicle to hit the UK market and the third model developed on the Modular Scalable Platform, which first emerged with the MG4 EV.
At the front, the MGS6 EV showcases a modern appearance featuring a split grille design, integrated high and low beam lighting, and a newly designed daytime running light signature.
From the side, you’ll notice silver roof rails, privacy glass, and a prominent shoulder line. At the rear, the lower bumper is embellished with silver accents, and an integrated roof spoiler includes a brake light. An attractive full-length central light bar is cleverly positioned beneath the MG badge to accentuate the vehicle’s electric range.
Interior
Thanks to the ultra-thin battery technology employed in the MGS6 EV, combined with the adaptable Modular Scalable Platform, this vehicle comfortably accommodates a family of five.
Both front and rear passengers can expect exceptional comfort with ample leg and knee space, while heated front seats are standard across all three models. What’s more, with a boot space of 674 litres, which expands to a remarkable 1,910 litres when the rear seats are folded, you won’t have to worry about travelling light. There’s also a front ‘frunk’ providing up to 124 litres of additional cargo capacity.
A variety of colours and materials ensure that the MG’s interior is not only practical but also visually appealing. Grey leather-style and suede-style seats are available, paired with either a carbon-effect trim or a beige option featuring a natural-effect finish. Trophy models also come equipped with a panoramic sunroof, flooding the cabin with natural light.
The interior is further refined by a dual-screen arrangement, consisting of a floating 12.8-inch HD touchscreen and a 10.25-inch HD driver display, complete with three selectable themes.

Driving Experience
MG claims that the MGS6 EV is designed to deliver impressive power and performance across its three distinct variants. This is especially true for the MGS6 EV Trophy Dual Motor, which we had the pleasure of driving at its launch event.
The all-wheel drive (AWD) version produces a potent 361PS, allowing it to sprint from 0 to 62mph in a swift 5.1 seconds. The AWD system engages when traction becomes compromised, providing commendable stability in various driving conditions. While the MG does exhibit some rolling when pushed too hard into corners, it still offers an exhilarating burst of speed on straight stretches.
In addition to the Trophy model, there are two other variants of the MGS6 EV: the SE Long Range, which features a single-motor output of 245PS and a combined range of 329 miles. The Trophy Long Range matches this range and power but enhances the driving experience with more advanced comfort and entertainment features. These rear-wheel drive models can reach 0 to 62mph in a respectable 7.3 seconds, with all variants capped at a top speed of 124mph.
Additional features include five energy recovery modes, including a one-pedal driving option, providing versatility in various driving conditions. Furthermore, the MGS6 EV offers five driving modes – Normal, Sport, Comfort, Custom, and Snow – contributing to a generally assured and engaging driving experience.
Running Costs
The 77 kWh battery delivers an impressive driving range of up to 329 miles for the single-motor rear-wheel-drive versions, while the all-wheel-drive Trophy Dual Motor offers up to 301 miles.
MG claims that the SUV has an aerodynamic drag coefficient of just 0.27. Notable design features include an active grille shutter system, front wheel deflectors, and low-resistance aero wheel covers, which collectively improve the electric range by nearly an additional 30 miles.
All models can be rapidly charged from 10% to 80% in just 38 minutes when using public fast chargers.

Conclusion
The MGS6 EV builds on the foundation laid by successful models like the MG4 EV hatchback while drawing inspiration from sportier MGs, such as the Cyberster convertible.
With MG’s reputation as one of the UK’s best-selling EV manufacturers, you can feel confident in your investment in this vehicle. The SE Long Range starts at £37,995, the Trophy Long Range is priced at £40,995, and the Trophy Dual Motor costs £43,995.
While it may not be the most affordable electric vehicle on the market, the MGS6 EV checks many boxes for those seeking a spacious electric car for family use.
Although the vehicle may not be visually striking, it offers solid performance, impressive range, safety, comfort, and practicality. Overall, if you’re looking for a family car and are committed to driving fully electric, this MG should definitely be on your shopping list.
