The new and improved Advansafix offers optimum safety for older children.

First Impressions

Although the Advansafix II SICT cannot be used rear-facing – generally recommended as the safest car seat option – Britax have given it a number of safety improvements, with pioneering features to keep older kids just as safe as youngsters in the forward-facing setup.

The unit is quick and easy to install with ISOFIT+ technology, including ISOFIX hooks, V-Tether anchorage points and the brilliant indicators – showing that everything is correctly installed and giving parents that added peace of mind. The seat also has a good recline, carries a nice amount of padding and offers longer harness protection than previous models, meaning it can comfortably protect children weighing up to 25kg or approximately up to 6 years old.

Features

Strong and securely built, the Advansafix has had two major upgrades from the previous edition (which had good quality and high safety standards). The first of these is the Flexible Side Impact Protection (SICT), which simply clips into the door-side of the seat unit to provide better protection in the event of a collision.

The other addition is the SecureGuard attachment, which, once your child has outgrown the 5-point harness, cleverly ensures your car’s seatbelt stays in the optimum position. Adding a fourth connection point to reduce impact on abdomen, it works by placing the belt across the strong pelvic bone area, away from the delicate abdomen and reducing forces in a frontal collision by up to 35% – a real reassurance because, as put by Britax, ‘as children grow they don’t get any less precious.’

Kids will definitely appreciate the added freedom of using the seatbelt (being kept in the right position by the SecureGuard), but do keep an eye out to make sure they’re not removing their arms from beneath the belt.

Other big positives with this seat are the quick-remove cover, meaning you can whip it away to clean without removing the harness, slightly shallower base to make getting in and out that much easier and above all, the longevity has to be applauded. Really providing an example for products growing with your child, a seat that can last over 11 years is a pretty impressive investment.

FQ Verdict

An excellent package, the Advansafix II SICT car seat is secure, comfortable and with modern improvements from one of the industry’s most reliable brands, lets your children – even when they’re growing like a beanstalk – travel in safety.
